Message: This week marked the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. The question that remains is simply this: Is the Reformation Over? Many say it is. But if there is an ongoing need of Reformation, what should it look like going forward? Join us this Saturday at 11am as we conclude our series Reformation Reborn: What’s next?
Look who I caught installing our new playground benches/picnic tables!
Had a great time supporting Rylie Tomlinson for her 12th birthday on Sunday! She got a pet bearded dragon and named it Francesca!
Fun times having vespers with this group Saturday night!
Message: The call of the Protestant Reformation was a call back to the doctrine of Scripture and the apostles, a call back to primitive Christianity, a call for Truth. Today, the Seventh-day Adventist church is the inheritor of that legacy. Join us this Sabbath at 11am as we present the formation of the Seventh-day Adventist church in our series celebrating 500 years of Protestant Reformation.
Things Happening: This past Sabbath at Riverview was special.
It was great going for a walk in the afternoon at paint creek:
Many of us gathered to watch WAR ROOM together:
And then on Wednesday night at 5:30 we enjoyed a new prayer meeting serieson the power of prayer. Great job Trish Boyce and Suzie Svendson for leading out:
Shout out to Beth Shelton who did a fantastic job at Beginners Sabbath School this past Sabbath telling the story of Moses:
Personal: We had a great time getting FREE donuts this week! (T-mobile Tuesday)
Message: What would you do if you believed Jesus was coming in the next five years? Would you live differently? Would you treat your relationship with Jesus differently? Would you take your faith more seriously? I’ll bet that you might. Join us as we discover how this anticipation of Jesus’ return transformed the Protestant Reformation as we continue our series, “Reformation Reborn: The Great Advent Awakening.”
Things Happening: Did you know that a great many of our church members gather each week with students from our school to encourage one another! It is pretty amazing to see the garden they have planted and the things they have built. Great job guys!
Message: Have you ever struggled to extend grace to others as Christ gave to you? Have you ever struggled to give others space to make mistakes? If you have, you are not alone. The Protestant Reformers did too. And as a result, an element rose up known as the Radical Reformation. Join us this Sabbath at 11am as we continue our series Reformation Reborn.
Message: Two weeks ago, we explored the tipping point of the Reformation when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Wittenberg Church in 1517. This Sabbath join us at 11am as we examine the domino effect of Protestantism in the early 1500’s and the Counter Reformation in a sermon entitled, “Reformation Reborn: The Empire Strikes Back!”
Prayer: It was great seeing so many show up for prayer meeting this past Wednesday. It was a special time. Hope you can make it this next Wednesday. We also celebrated Erika Santos‘ birthday!
Things Happening: It was good to see many of you at the NE TN Campmeeting. I had a great time leading the youth Sabbath School class.
Had a chance to enjoy a Sabbath afternoon walk with some people from the church. Check out the guy in crutches! (Claes Svenson)
Worship at Riverview was a blessing two Sabbath’s ago. It was great to see how many children the Lord has blessed us with. It is great to see our Sabbath School classes growing. Join us for Sabbath School every morning at 10am.
I had the privilege of sharing a worship thought with some young men at a golf course this week. One of the young men came to me and shared that God had given him a dream the night before that specifically tied in with the message that I shared. He is making some major steps to dedicate his life to God. What a confirmation of the fact that whenever we step out to do something for others, God can bless our efforts exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask or imagine!!! Just for kicks, I was spying in someone’s house…can you guess who this is? Back in their younger days…
Message: There comes a point in any movement of reform at which it becomes necessary to break with the status quo and tradition of the past. A tipping point, if you will. Jesus Himself said, “I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” Matthew 10:34 Join us this Sabbath as we continue our series with a sermon titled, Reformation Reborn: The Tipping Point.
Prayer: I was richly blessed by the Men’s Prayer Breakfast this past Sunday. Join us for the next one scheduled for the second Sunday morning of every month. Prayer meeting was also a huge blessing this week. Thank you Ric!
Things Happening: There was a lot happening this week. It was a great blessing for several of us to participate at Week of Prayer with our school.
The Prophecy meetings at Greeneville were also a blessing that many of us enjoyed as well. I’m so proud of our kids for being involved in Evangelism!
Message: Have you ever suffered defeat? Chances are you have. But the defeats of this life are not always what they at first appear. Jesus said, “34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:34-38 Join us this Sabbath as we learn about a God who turns defeat into victory for all who are faithful as we continue our series, “Reformation Reborn: The Bohemian Reformation.”
Personal: It was a pleasure to play basketball with a great group of guys and girls at GAA on Tuesday night. I especially enjoyed playing with Robert and Ben Hastings and Davy Ondreijka. Proud of these guys for living out their Christian witness even on the basketball court with friends from the community. Great playing together!
