Message: Have you ever had a moment when God broke into your life all of a sudden? Many people have waited for God to give them a sign? Have you ever waited for God to give you a sign? Jesus once said, “This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation….” Luke 11:29-30 This week, we will talk about the sign of Jonah. Join us Saturday morning at 11am for part three of our sermon series, Jonah: God’s Relentless Grace.
Prayer: If you were at prayer meeting this past week you know that we had a very special time of prayer together. Please keep Jerry Cohen in your prayers. We also are praying especially for the Gallimore family. On another note, we need to pray for our nation. Please read the following article: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/04/breaking-faith/517785/ . As it turns out, belonging to a church family is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and for your country. I’m reminded of the verse: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”2 Chronicles 7:14
Things Happening: I assure you that there has been a lot going on down by the riverside. Ministry has been moving full steam ahead and so have the obstacles. But God is good and He is providing for us!
Personal: This past Thursday night we enjoyed a dinner and showing of a movie in the home of Fred and Barbara Myers. The movie was called “A Certain Kind of Light.” Produced by Loma Linda University Health and recounting the legacy of Dr. Wil Alexander, this film was a powerful reminder of how intricately our physical and spiritual health are related and the mission that we have as Seventh-day Adventists to offer the world whole person care. I am so proud of my wife for her ministry as a hospital chaplain!
